Personal Description:

As a full time professionally qualified teacher, I offer piano lessons (classical and jazz) to pupils of all ages abilities and interests and from beginner to diploma level. I have an excellent track record of exam successes and to date have entered well over 500 pupils (50% Distinction 40% Merit, 10% Pass) . I am equally at home with leisure learners and particularly specialise in designing courses for adult beginners. I also offer music theory to Grade 8 (including a fast track Grade 5 qualification). My early years were spent as a Head of Music in state and private schools but for the last 20 years I have concentrated on full time private teaching and now run a busy and well established practise based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as examination work, I also enjoy teaching those who prefer to learn for relaxation and leisure and cover all styles and genres. I specialise in personalised courses built around my pupils' own particular musical interests. Using music software, I produce arrangements of pieces chosen by my pupils and these can then be customised to their particular skill level.I also add backing tracks to enhance the experience. Whether opting for the exam or leisure routes, I like to record and save the best of my pupils' performances and these can then be played to friends and family. Over the years these recordings build nto an excellent record of achievement.
