Information About Mark - Shaftesbury teacher
This is how 3 referees rated Mark:
I am a drummer of some 45 years standing, originally self taught but was inspired and improved dramatically when I finally got around to formal lessons. I grew up in Brighton within a great music scene and still meet up and play with friends there monthly in a studio or gigging at various venues around the town. I am also an enthusiastic collector of interesting drum kits and my students take great delight at the variety of kits they get to experience - both acoustic and electronic.
I worked for many years for the FA in Sussex as a football coach (career cut short by injury) but decided about 10 years ago to marry my two passions of teaching and drumming and began tutering drum set informally. Based then in Fleet Hampshire I have sinced moved a few times but my students won't let mo go so I still give odd lessons in Hampshire, Sussex and the New Forest as well as regularly at home in North Dorset. I have taught students as young as 5 by providing the right learning environment and even gave a lovely 75 yr old lady a Mother's Day treat of a four hour 'Drumming Experience' - a bit like a Ferrari experience day but without the wind in your hair and more noisy!
I have developed my course and material based on my own learning experiences and my understanding of psychology. Mix this with a good dose of common sense, an eye for detail, an understanding of technique, good humour and learning is fun.
I like to stress musicianship - I want to help students become musicians rather than drummers. I believe a passion for music should come first whatever instrument(s) you might choose to try.
