Personal Description:

Step into the enchanting world of violin mastery with me, Marie, a seasoned instructor dedicated to guiding students of all ages on their musical odyssey. With a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence, I ensure each student reaches their fullest musical potential, regardless of their background.

Hailing from the musical heritage of France, I began my musical journey at the prestigious Conservatoire of Bordeaux, where I was honoured with a gold medal for my exceptional violin performance. This early recognition ignited my passion, leading me to pursue further education. I concurrently earned a Bachelor's degree in violin performance from the renowned Conservatoire of Paris and another Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Paris-Sorbonne, deepening my understanding of musical theory and composition. To refine my skills, I further honed my craft at the esteemed Geneva Music Conservatoire, completing a Master of Arts program focusing on musical interpretation.

Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of learning from some of the world's leading violin teachers, including Stephan Picard, Roland Daugareil, Suzanne Gessner, Vladimir Nemtanu, Daishin Kashimoto, Christophe Boulier, Annick Roussin, and Marie-Annick Nicolas. Their guidance and expertise have enriched my musical knowledge and shaped my approach to teaching and performance.

Tutoring Experience:

My students currently comprise of children from the age of 5, as well as adults. I understand that teaching techniques must vary depending on the student's age and level of experience. Whether nurturing a young beginner's curiosity or refining the skills of an advanced student, I adapt my approach to suit each individual's needs.

For the past 17 years, I have been dedicated to nurturing musical talent in both France and the UK, drawing upon my extensive education and experience. In addition to private lessons, I have contributed to the musical education landscape in several music schools and chamber music groups. I hold a full DBS check for your peace of mind.

Tutoring Approach:

Embracing a philosophy akin to seasoned virtuosos, I prioritise the establishment of a robust technical foundation, beginning with precise posture and bow technique. As students progress, I tailor lessons to suit their individual needs and talents, nurturing growth and fostering musical expression.

I take pride in my students' achievements, boasting an impressive track record with many successfully passing Trinity and ABRSM exams up to Grade 8, achieving a remarkable 100% pass rate. Yet, beyond mere examination success, I emphasise the sheer joy of playing the violin and delving into its vast repertoire. Regular student concerts provide opportunities to showcase talents and share the magic of music with loved ones.

Experience the convenience of fluently conducted lessons in both English and French, catering to diverse linguistic preferences. Rates are as follows:

One-to-One Sessions (in person or online):
• £40 per hour
• £35 per 45 minutes

Conveniently located between Stepney Green and Mile End stations, lessons are available in-person or online. Please note that cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a charge.

Learning the violin is a rewarding journey that demands dedication and parental support, particularly for younger learners. Together, let's embark on this musical adventure and unlock your full potential with my expert guidance!

NEW STUDENTS:
DISCOVERY SESSION

Due to high demand and limited availability, I am currently implementing a selection process for prospective new students, both children and adults:

• When a slot opens up, new students will be invited to participate in a discovery session, designed to assess compatibility between the student and myself. This session is priced at the standard rate, depending on its duration.
• The length of the session is tailored to the individual's age and proficiency level, providing an opportunity to gauge mutual suitability without any commitment.
• If mutually agreed upon, a minimum commitment of five prepaid lessons is required to continue.
