Personal Description:

Offering now both in-person or online lessons.
I have studied for many years in Poland and then at the prestigious London Guildhall School of Music & Drama. I have gathered over 25 years experience playing in different environments, which has allowed me to grow as a musician and as a tutor. I am a part and co-leader of different music projects working in London such as Jazzphrenia, The Colours, Jason Simpson Project, BB Collective, who have performed in various venues around London such as Pizza Express, Charlie Wrights, The Dignity, Olivers, Hipsta Bar just to name just a few.
I was also a lead guest soloist in Peter Eotvos “Total Immersion” event that had its UK premiere in London’s Barbican Music Hall.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a private tutor 10 years now. During that time, I managed to sustain a large base of students. I also organise an end of term concert for my students. It is a great opportunity for them to experience the real live music performance.

Please have a look at my current students' testimonials:

“Professionally, I’m an executive coach and know it’s easy to call yourself a coach or tutor – but what matters is whether you can do it in a way that works for clients! Marek is a gifted musician, with an easy, friendly, but very challenging approach that constantly stretches his pupil to reach standards not before dreamed of. I started with Marek as a mature student, with no saxophone experience at all and within a few lessons was playing some music by ear. He covers all areas and develops new ideas to address any difficulties, while pushing you to extend your repertoire. Lessons are stimulating and fun – and deliver significant change. I can heartily recommend Marek if you are thinking of starting, developing, or improving your saxophone playing.”
— Frank (Senior Executive Coach)

“Marek has showed me that he can make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!”
— Jerry (CEO at 36 South Capital Advisors)

“‘Marek has been teaching me to play the tenor sax for over two years now. Having had a different teacher the previous year, it is clear that Marek is in a league of his own on all levels. Technically he has an enormous wealth of knowledge and experience, just as his command of music theory never ceases to impress. Yet what distinguishes Marek from any other teacher is his ability to use all of his skills in a creative way. I’ve never had a dull lesson. Dull can happen when you’re practicing (and again, that’s your own fault!), but if ever you get bored duringa lesson, Marek picks up on it and immediately swings things around. One minute you’re stuck on a specific exercise, the next you’re learning something exciting and new. Just like that. Marek balances rigor with creative fun, setting a stable foundation for playing the sax while reminding you why you play it in the first place. In my case it’s for the love of music. Not many teachers share that passion as profoundly as Marek. You can’t teach anybody how to love playing the sax. Marek is an example of someone who does… and it’s contagious.’”
— Pierre (student)
“Through school and university I played the saxophone and like a lot of us as soon as the real world caught up with me my musical interest diminished and the saxophone lay untouched gathering dust. After getting over my initial nerves and deciding to re-start lessons I scanned **Contact Detail Removed** and came across Marek . Jan 2011 we negotiated our first lesson which turned into an 18 month partnership culminating in me and Marek playing at my wedding. I can whole heartedly recommend him to anyone looking to start lessons, improve or develop a different genre e.g moving from classical to jazz, a reader of music to learning to improvise. He is extremely talented and versatile as well as puts you at ease – although I still had the fear when I hadn’t quite achieved all the practice I promised to do. His style can be suited to all age ranges and abilities – an excellent teacher”
— Sara (Talent Acquisition at State Street)
“As a mature student I wanted to learn the saxophone for years and was concerned over finding a suitable teacher for a mature beginner. Was very pleased when someone recommended Marek to me. A really friendly teacher who understood my position and would structure every lesson around what I needed. A pleasure to to be a student of an highly recommended. I was playing Carless Whisper by the end which was my ultimate goal. Thanks Marek.”
— Richard (Pensions Manager at Capita Hartshead)

“Marek is an excellent teacher of the saxaphone and has taught a novice like me many skills in a short amount of time. He is excellent value for money and very reliable – I would not hesitate to recommend him.”
— Pete(Director at The Broadcast House)
“Marek has a fresh and exciting approach to teaching jazz saxophone. I would strongly recommend him as a sax teacher”
— Daniel (Committee member at Big Lottery Fund England Committee)
“Marek is the man who can turn into reality, a simple craving for saxophone or a dream to become a professional saxophonist. His method and tactics, are always tailored to each of his students and thereby ensures a growing progress.
I thank him very much”
— David (Founding Partner, Scientific Director at Kings Cross Group)
“Marek is a gifted musician and an excellent teacher. I can’t recommend him highly enough to anybody thinking of learning the saxophone.”
— Barry (Principal Consultant at Barry Gollop Consulting Limited)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a good teacher needs to always adjust to the individual needs of his students. Having an enormous experience in both jazz and classical music gives me the ability to offer a huge variety of different skills sets. Whether you like to improvise, play by ear, do Grades, read music I'm happy to help.
