Personal Description:

I am a Greek-British composer and pianist. I have been commissioned by ensembles, such as the Hezarfen Ensemble (KlangZeit-Festival, Germany) and the Bridge Quartet (American College of Greece), and contemporary music organizations such as New Music in the South West and Contemporary Music Venture. I was a shortlisted composer for the Britten Sinfonia’s OPUS2015 competition and am currently composing a work for soprano and ensemble to be premiered at Festival Musica (Strasbourg) in September 2015. As a performer I have appeared in venues across the UK, Greece, France and Portugal.

I have studied at the Universities of Oxford (BA in Music) and Bristol (MA in Music – Composition). Having completed a year of piano studies with Eugen Indjic at La Schola Cantorum in Paris, I am currently undertaking doctoral studies in composition at King's College London under the supervision of George Benjamin and Silvina Milstein as a scholar of the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP).

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching piano, theory and composition for the past five years and have experience of presenting students for the ABRSM graded exams. I have also taught orchestration and improvisation, as well as having given seminars in Analysis and Techniques of Composition at King’s College London.

Tutoring Approach:

With playing the piano, I believe that one of the most effective teaching methods is to be able to explain a principle verbally, demonstrate and elicit imitation. Nonetheless, interpretational issues require the development of a sense of balance, good taste and style, for which the student must be granted liberty to experiment and make their approach their own. In this case, the role of the tutor is to act as a testing ground for the student, helping the student perceive the issues that need to be addressed and to introduce new ideas for the student to experiment with.
