Personal Description:

I am a third year BMus (Hons) student on Oboe Performance at the Royal Academy of Music. Former to this I studied at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music Junior department in Manchester.

At the age of 5 I began to study the Recorder and Piano, both of which I became grade 7 standard. I enjoyed playing them so much I took up the oboe at the age of 13 and this is where my musical interest blossomed. Alongside this I developed a love of singing, and took part in many music festivals and various choirs. At a professional level, I now mainly concentrate on Oboe and Cor Anglais.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for many years now, with pupils at many different levels, ages and circumstance. I have taken my pupils through many exams; theory, piano and oboe, ending in fantastic results. But also I teach people 'just for fun!', so can adapt to whichever you need.

Tutoring Approach:

Music has always been hugely influential and something I have felt a lot of passion for from a very young age. To have even a background of music is incredibly beneficial throughout life, and I find it thrilling how I can pass on my knowledge so that others can benefit this way.

Since I began learning the oboe I have fortunately received fantastic tuition off many world renound oboe players. I think it is important for a teacher to inspire, be fully involved and motivate the student, to ensure they enjoy practise time and look forward to lessons… as much as they can!
I try to keep lessons light-hearted and fun with the idea of pushing the student at the same time. I hope that my former students agree!
From my previous tutors, I have luckily picked up many tricks and tips about teaching the 'correct' way and would love to carry on passing this knowledge to allow students to have a great time playing their instrument!
