Personal Description:
I'm Luke and I'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer in Surrey! I've been playing guitar for nearly 20 years and have studied my craft at ACM (The academy of contemporary music) in Guildford, with various certificates including guitar performance, and songwriting. I'm easy-going and have a large personality. I'm formidable in a wide range of styles including: Rock, pop, blues, reggae, country & western, funk and soul.
I specialise in being YOUR tutor. Everybody learns differently, and I pride myself on finding the right method to make you learn the most efficiently - No-one likes wasting money on getting nowhere! This is obviously at the discretion of your own amount of practise time between lessons, many people think that just because they HAVE a guitar tutor, that they will be Jimi Hendrix (or whoever it is you like) in no time: It doesn't work this way, you need to put in as much practise as you can to really make the most of our sessions and your money and learning. I have worked with all age groups ranging from 7 to 65 (I will not accept students under the ages of 7), and also have experience with teaching children and adults alike with additional needs. We can keep it casual and learn at your own pace, or we can go through Rock School's graded system for that full-blown karate black belt tier, it's entirely up to you!
If you're looking for less than an hour's tuition, that can be arranged at a percentage of the hourly price accordingly.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching for over 7 years professionally both online and in person to over 50 students. I have taught students ranging from beginner to just under expert, with ages ranging from 8 right up to 65, as well as teaching the RSL awards scheme (rock school) with a current 100% pass rate (as of November 2024)! I also have experience with teaching people with additional needs including, but not limited to, autism and ADHD as well.
Tutoring Approach:
Everyone learns differently, and I will strive to find the most effective and simple way of teaching you as possible. I'm a very patient person, with bundles of encouragement and good vibes. I'm a really chilled guy, and it will feel more like your mate coming round to play guitar with you, rather than a tutor. If I need to create after lesson notes for you to refer to, I will to a professional standard (examples can be given once a lesson is booked), I will also strive to explain the music theory side, to help you understand everything even more on a more musical level, as opposed to just getting to play something you're learning, I will explain why these specific techniques work (if that's your thing, which I recommend it is!)
