Personal Description:

I trained at the Royal College of Music, London, gaining GRSM degree, Dip RCM and ARCM at postgraduate level.
In addition to my degree and postgraduate qualifications I have taken the Certificate of Teaching-
CTABRSM-a fast track advanced teaching course run by the Associated Board.

I have been performing and teaching for over 30 years playing with the Northern Ballet Orchestra as sub principal 2nd violin until 2003 and freelancing with orchestras in London such as the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Concert and the Philharmonia.
I also perform regularly with the Summers Piano Trio and string orchestra- Simply Strings.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching the violin for over 30 years and I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities.
My students range from 5 to 65.
I currently teach privately at home and as a visiting tutor at a private school.
I am enhanced DBS checked.
I also run an adult string orchestra for students over the age of 20.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach classical violin and I range from taking pupils through the ABRSM exam system, adult re-starters, entry to local music festivals and further concert opportunities.
I have a person-centred approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to the individual needs and capabilities of each student in a relaxed and friendly learning environment.
I have a calm patient approach, and I expect my students to put in as much as they get out of the lessons.
