Personal Description:

I am a professional opera singer, musician and tutor and have a Masters degree from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I also have 2 bachelor of music degrees from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Manchester. I am based in SW London and have a car so can easily travel to pupils addresses. I have been teaching online since the start of the pandemic and have had much success with this.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching for over 10 years and I specialise in singing (all genres), violin, piano, music theory, GCSE and A Level music. I also tutor Maths and English from pre-school age up to 13+ entrance exams (including 7+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams). In my music lessons I can work towards ABRSM and Trinity exams (if suitable for the pupil) and have much success with results and students gaining places in reputable institutions such as the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. I am currently a singing teacher at Tonbridge Wells Grammar School for girls and have taught at theatre schools in the West Midlands such as Stagecoach and The Sote Academy.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach all abilities and from ages 7 upwards. All of my music lessons are aimed towards getting the very best out of my pupils and therefore attending to their specific needs and requirements. I am also a firm believer that learning should be fun and creating a happy, enjoyable learning environment is one of my top priorities as a tutor. Setting weekly and monthly goals is something that can really lead to achieving long term success when it comes to music lessons and it is always important to me to have good communication with students and their parents in order to set these goals and keep on track. I enjoy working towards ABRSM exams with pupils, and working towards such exams can be a great way of setting goals and monitoring constant progression. Equally I am also more than happy to teach students who would like to learn purely for fun. I always incorporate music theory in my lessons so that my pupils grasp a real understanding of music from the beginning and are able to read music fluently.
