Personal Description:
Hi! I am Louis, and I have been playing drums since I was 6. I think that as a result, the fundament of my relationship with the drums is one of playfulness, and self-determined exploration and experimentation. To me the drum room is a place to feel uninhibited and free. I have had many teachers, from professionals that have committed their time to teaching, to world class musicians who were teaching on the side. In both cases, I understand the value and importance of a fully present teacher that is attentive and creative in helping a student find and achieve their goals.
After studying Jazz Drums in The Netherlands, and working as a drummer in Amsterdam for 3 years afterwards, I have now moved to the UK - my families' country of origin. I am currently more interested in teaching than I am in performing, as I explore my interests in psychology and music therapy. I don't yet know where this will take me, but in the meantime I want to continue my work in the art of teaching.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught students of all levels from people who have never hit a drum before, to people preparing for a University study, and including people who have pursued a different career, but have always wanted a go. Drums and music are a very human thing and, from our first heart beat, I am convinced that we all have a sense of rhythm.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe in personalised tuition. Any person is best served with a mentor that is driven to understand their character and find ways to facilitate the learning process. A good dose of humour, fun and uninhibited play often works magic. With this relationship in place, a solid foundation of information, skills and history can be worked through on the drums to equip a student with a broad awareness of the worldliness of this instrument, and of rhythm in general.
