Personal Description:

Hi! I'm Lewis and I am an enthusiastic trainee teacher currently finishing my final year at university studying to achieve a BA in Primary Education with QTS. Over the past 3 years, I have experience teaching music to both adults and children on a private one to one basis, whilst also teaching a range of subjects in main-stream primary schools. I strive to make each lesson enjoyable and for you get the absolute most out of our time together; lessons are tailored to your specific needs!

I have been co-principle and principle of the second violins in the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra of which I was a member of for 4 years. I have been privileged to perform in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and St Georges Hall.

I have also had the good fortune of partaking in master classes with soloists such as Nicola Benedetti and have worked, played and performed alongside members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. I have also worked in summer camps and workshops ran by In Harmony which was a scheme funded by the RLPO that provided young, upcoming musicians with an opportunity to develop their technique and orchestral playing alongside senior members of the RLPO.

I have done quartet work for The Rushworth Young Composers scheme that was held in the Liverpool Music Room and The Albert Hall.
I’ve lead music workshops and in-house theater productions for a number of years in the Liverpool World Museum.

Having the opportunity to play and perform among professionals as well as like-minded musicians has had a profound impact on my technique and musicianship. I am very keen to pass on the skills and knowledge that I have acquired to other musicians who are looking to develop their playing technique and musically.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had experience with ABRSM exams from grades 1 to 8 however there’s no pressure to take up exams and I’m more than happy to support you if you play for pleasure. I have had experience teaching both adults and children within a range of setting including main stream primary schools and on a private, one to one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very relaxed, friendly and easy-going person which I think comes through in my teaching. I am more than happy to teach anybody at any level and at any age for as long as you wish. My teaching technique is aimed at providing a flexible, individualised approach to each students' lessons and I’m more than happy to work around you and your needs. I aim to create an open, relaxed environment for students to ask questions and develop to the best of their ability. Support and patience are crucial, so I will strive to provide helpful guidance every step of the way!

I’m more than willing to travel to your home for lessons within a reasonable locality of either my home in Hextable or where I’m currently studying in Canterbury.
