Personal Description:

I come from a musical background; my father was a violinist, and his mother was a ballerina. As a youngster, I played violin and harmonica, and then I studied engineering. In my early twenties, I took up the clarinet and subsequently taught myself other instruments, the Saxophone, Flute, Oboe and Violin. I play music regularly in concert bands and in a local orchestra, usually playing the violin. I studied music at Christ Church University, followed by completing a
BA Hons degree and a postgraduate course at the Open University. I currently teach the Clarinet, Saxophone, Violin, Oboe & Flute. As an additional subject, teach music theory ABRSM Grades 1-6. I am a professional musician who frequently entertains the public at local functions as a multi-instrumentalist.
I studied an MA in Music at the Open University.

Tutoring Experience:

Ten years across all the instruments that I teach.

I have experience in teaching and preparing students for the ABRSM exam. This is for the Music Performance Exam & Music Theory for all ages.

I am also a Registered Private Teacher with the ISM ( Independent Society of Musicians)

Tutoring Approach:

My aim with music lessons is to continually help pupils reach their full potential by learning new skills. In addition, my approach is to develop musical ability to either pass Graded exams, such as the ABRSM, or to help a pupil reach the required standard to join a local band. The student's needs at the end of the day are most important when choosing the type of music lesson they're after to suit their requirements.
