Information About Lauren - Burton-on-Trent teacher
This is how 4 referees rated Lauren:
I started drumming at the age of thirteen and haven't put the sticks down since! I completed my initial training by achieving a distinction in my grade eight Rock School drumming exam and then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Popular and World Musics from the University of Leeds and a Master's Degree in Music Management from the University of Sheffield. I have a full DBS check and have trained in SEN and EAL learning.
I started teaching drum lessons on a one-to-one basis during my studies. Since graduating I have continued to teach drum lessons in school and privately and have been involved in various other music and arts education projects. Although the drum kit is my first instrument, I also play the flute, guitar, bass, ukulele, piano and saxophone and enjoy writing and producing music.
I have been playing in bands for as long as I've been playing the drums and have been lucky enough to play gigs and festivals all over the country. I am currently the drummer for blues infused indie trio FloodHounds, hard hitting rock 'n' roll 5-piece Thunderous Jones and reggae influenced Sheffield outfit Rogue Siesta. I also work as a live and recording session drummer.

Lauren has a full DBS check (formerly CRB check) dated 2016. She also works in various schools teaching one-to-one drum tuition, group lessons, after school clubs and full class performing arts sessions. Through this Lauren has completed extensive training in good teaching methods and behaviour management and safeguarding. She also has experience in teaching special needs, early years and EAL (English as an Addition Language) children.
Lauren has been involved in the piloting of new music technologies and schemes for children and these sessions required her to reflect upon and evaluate the success of each session. Lauren has therefore spent a lot of time researching good approaches to teaching and reflecting upon her own teaching methods.
Lauren is currently part of the Junk Orchestra project which involves visiting Primary Schools all over the Midlands and further afield leading sessions in how to build and play musical instruments out of household recycling.
