Information About Kevin - Stratford-upon-Avon teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Kevin:
Graduated from the Birmingham School of Music in 1984 and as well as teaching in the West Midland for a number of years was Trombonist with well known local theatre company for 26 years. As a Trombone player in a theatre band, my role included performing incidental music before during and after performances, performing in concerts and recording music for theatre performances and CD. Also much experience playing in Brass Quintets and Orchestra. A professional musician since 1980, I have toured many countries with both Orchestra and Brass Quintet, I have performed live on radio and recorded for radio on both the UK and Germany.
Taught peripatetic in the West Midlands for several years before taking up position as Trombonist with a well known theatre company. I was also Trombone tutor for two famous public schools and low brass tutor for the National Wind Orchestra of Great Britain. As part of a professional brass quintet gave workshops and masterclasses around the UK for a number of years and have taught large groups of students in schools in Singapore. I am currently teaching part time in two schools in the East Midlands area.
I like to ensure that students have a good technique and produce a good sound on the Trombone. In addition to this I try to give students a good grounding in reading music and understanding music theory as the lessons progress. While providing challenging work I endeavour to make playing an instrument enjoyable and informative. Although not essential, I like students to work for and take Associated Board Grade exams, not only does this show the student a tangible view of progress, but also enables students to practice performing in front of other people.
