Information About Keith - Wadebridge teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Keith:
I'm 59, married and have wide-ranging interests in addition to my musical activities. I do some professional playing and a little composing, but most of my time is spent in teaching piano and examining for ABRSM (grades and diplomas).
I have been teaching professionally since 1977 (piano and organ) with a wide range of students, most of whom play for pleasure, but quite a number of whom have entered the music profession in their turn.
While I do not push students into taking exams, many have achieved success at all grades and in diplomas over the years. I also offer tuition for music theory exams if required.
Learning an instrument is a great, life-enhancing thing to do but requires a fair level of commitment since few people find it easy all the time. I work on the theory that people respond much better to encouragement than criticism and, though there is work to be done (some of it quite challenging), a friendly, professional environment helps students achieve their goals.
My teaching is student-centred and does not rely on a 'method.' Every student is an individual and needs individual attention. I draw on my long experience and extensive musical knowledge to tailor studies for each student in an effort to help them achieve their potential.
As an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music I have a particular understanding of the requirements of these exams and how to pass them with high marks.
I keep an extensive library of piano music and supply texts free of charge, so that students can be given whatever copies I think are needed without having to search for them or think of the expense. Only exam fees are an extra charge (payable to the exam board).
Lessons usually take place in my studio, but can be arranged over the internet where required.
