Personal Description:

Saxophonist of over ten years (Soprano, Alto and Tenor) and a recent graduate from Leeds Conservatoire. While specialising in classical music, I have a wealth of experience playing an array of genres such as jazz/ funk, pop and musical theatre. I also have knowledge of up to Grade 5 theory and is more than happy to assist any students looking towards completing their ABRSM and Trinity College London graded exam preparation.

Tutoring Experience:

Have assisted many in the beginning stages of learning the saxophone and music in general with learning to read and identify notes on a stave. I also have experience in the leading and taking part of workshops surrounding rhythmic, vocal and percussive exploration and composition. I have plenty of experience in a range of ensembles and chamber music environments so I am able to coach how to play effectively in an ensemble environment.

Tutoring Approach:

For the most part I like to follow the student's lead with what it is they want to learn and play and then offer materials that will aid in the progression of playing and musicality as a whole. If the student isn't sure of what their long term goals are, I am happy to assist the student in figuring that out by teaching of a range of different styles. I like to ensure that it will be a completely judgement-free zone as a student finds their footing in the world of saxophone and music and to create an individual identity in terms of playing as a hobby or perhaps an eventual career in the industry.
