Personal Description:

I am an avid musician who has been playing the piano since the age of 3, taking up a number of instruments over the years including the trumpet, cello, percussion, clarinet and saxophone.I love to play everything from classical to jazz, blues and swing and have an excellent knowledge of different genres and instruments. I play the clarinet and saxophone in a military band and also in smaller ensembles, performing regularly. I stoped taking music grades at the age of 13 in order to concentrate on performance, but my standard of playing is above that of grade 8 level.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching music for a year and absoutely love it. I teach all ages and abilities; it is never too late to learn an instrument! I truly love music and the joy that playing an instrument brings; being able to share that joy means that for me teaching music is a real passion.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very open in my approach to teaching and consider each student on an individual basis. I offer the opportunity for students to take ABRSM exams but this is entirely optional. I teach broadly in line with the ABRSM syllabus guidelines and believe in the power of scales and technical exercises, but again, each student is an individual and will be taught at their own pace and will be encouraged to discover where their own musical interests lie.
