This is how 2 referees rated Katherine:
My name is Katherine and I am currently in my third year at the Royal College of Music. I have studied both violin and piano for 12 years. Before studying at the RCM I studied at the Purcell School of Music for 10 years.
Over the years I have learnt that people work and learn in different ways and I try to adjust my approach to teaching according to each pupil's needs. I am lucky enough to have been taught by great musicians in the past, who have taught at the Royal College and the Royal Academy of Music and feel I have a lot of knowledge gained to pass on to my own students. I have been teaching privately for 4 years, and have been working as an outreach worker for 6 years, teaching in schools with children aged 3-16.
I offer one-to-one tuition and am very patient with my teaching, and flexible with my working hours. I try to make lessons relaxed and enjoyable whilst still pushing people to the best of their ability. For younger students, I try to incorporate fun games into their lessons which will improve not only their technique on their instrument, but also their general music theory knowledge. I do not mind if parents wish to sit in lessons with their children, as I understand this often helps parents to help their children with private practice.
