Personal Description:

*COVID-19 UPDATE*
I am very aware that this is a difficult time to begin learning with a new teacher. Along with many other music teachers, I have had to temporarily adapt my one-to-one teaching in person to an online format. I have continued all of my private and school lessons over the video meeting software, Zoom, and I have found it to be a good alternative for the current situation.

If after reading my profile you would be interested in trying lessons over Zoom then please do get in touch and we can discuss it further. However, I completely understand that many people would prefer to start lessons with a new teacher in person, and I completely understand this. If this is the case, please do still get in touch if you would be interested in having lessons in the future once social restrictions are permitting.

I am a freelance musician and teacher based in North London and a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. As an oboe player I have performed with orchestras such as BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra. I am also passionate about solo and chamber music and am a member of the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme. I also hold ABSRM Grade 8 in piano and music theory. My training and experience in these different areas of playing mean that I am able to offer a balanced and well rounded approach to playing on both oboe and piano, with a focus on developing all-round musicianship as well as skill on the instrument.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach oboe and piano privately and in schools across a range of ages and abilities from beginner level to Grade 8 and beyond. My current teaching position as piano and woodwind teacher at a pre-prep school means that I am equally comfortable teaching young children as well as older children and adult learners. I also hold a DBS certificate. I am experienced in preparing and entering students for ABRSM exams, both in the early and more advanced grades, and all with successful results. I am very happy for my students to take exams, though I equally enjoy teaching those who would prefer to learn and play without exam pressure.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons will always be tailored to suit the needs of the individual with the setting of clear and achievable goals. I like to teach in a relaxed, encouraging and open minded style, with an emphasis on inspiring and developing a love and appreciation for music whilst mastering technique.

For younger children who are beginners I would recommend a 30 minu**Contact Detail Removed**sson, and for older and/or more advanced players up to 60 minutes. My 30 minute rate is £25 and 60 minute rate is £40, for both piano and oboe.

I would actively encourage students to be involved with ensemble playing and choirs. Making music with other people is great for developing many different aspects of musicianship such as sight reading, aural skills and ensemble skills.
