Personal Description:

I am a graduate of College Cambridge, where I was a choral scholar for four years and then completed a masters in music at University College Cork, in the Republic of Ireland. I am now a professional singer and musician, specialising in early, folk and contemporary classical music and new opera. I am passionate about teaching to the highest standard and inspiring the next generation of musicians. I am an experienced, kind and attentive teacher with over ten years experience of teaching privately in homes across London, the UK and internationally.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience teaching all ages. I have worked particularly closely with young voices (ages 7-17) and with new and returning adult singers.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to singing teaching is two-fold and I believe it is my responsibility to tailor the style of learning to each individual.

Firstly, I help my students to establish a solid technique that enables fluid and flexible singing, using vocal exercises developed by Accent Method practitioners. This is an approach which re-coordinates breath and voice, helping to reset vocal technique and identify bad habits that are holding students back. I believe that excellent technique is essential at any level, to enable a person’s authentic voice and expression to emerge.

I then work with my students to apply these exercises and new ways of thinking to repertoire, setting the new learning in context, and practicing through music that my students love. I strike a balance between following the musical tastes of students, and suggesting new or unexpected repertoire.
