Information About Kate - Worcester teacher

Personal Description:

I am an experienced, ISM registered piano teacher offering private piano tuition from my home. My teaching is classically based, but expands across other genres as required. My area of expertise centres on beginner to intermediate, extending to advanced levels. Younger and adult learners are equally welcome. I am able to adapt to individual requirements, needs and goals, and have some flexibility around timings.
I also teach music theory and offer aural and sight-reading training… I am classically trained in piano, voice and clarinet, with experience of orchestral and large/small ensemble playing, and both popular and choral music. I sing to a high standard, both paid and amateur projects. I have wide knowledge of pop/rock/jazz genres and a good knowledge of music history. I have experience in accompanying, and also arranging.
My career prior to a break for family reasons was in the NHS (mental health) and this involved a significant amount of teaching. I bring the many transferrable skills from my former professional life to my work now.

Tutoring Experience:

A lifelong musician, I have been teaching privately from home for the past ten years. I have worked with people with a wide range of ages and abilities from complete beginner to adult returner. Some have chosen to take ABRSM exams (100% pass rate, mostly merit/distinction) and others play for their own pleasure.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is adapted to each individual's aims and needs. My aim is to provide what each learner wants from their lessons, so the starting point is to find their level then work together to decide on a direction that is both motivating and rewarding. I'm very approachable and place importance on the alliance between the learner and their teacher because it contributes so much to the process. I aim to equip learners with what they need in order to work on their playing between lessons: this is where the real progress is made. I work within a mutually agreed structure to offer a well-rounded piano tuition experience.
