Personal Description:

I am an experienced teacher of guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar. I am on the Rockschool teacher register, and I teach Grade 0 (debut) to Grade 8.

I've played many styles of music in my career, including Rock, Blues, Jazz, Flamenco, Latin, Indian and African music. I've directed musicians on BBC music broadcasts and performed at venues such as Hammersmith Apollo and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Tutoring Experience:

I've taught guitar since the year 2000. As well as having toured on the Live Music Now scheme (founded by Yehudi Menuhin), I have taught regularly in a number of schools including the Arts Ed in Chiswick and Haydon School in Pinner.

I have many private students in West London, Harrow and Watford. I can also come to Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, St Albans and Tring

Tutoring Approach:

A strength of mine is to present new techniques and musical ideas to the student in an undaunting and accessible way, while at the same time making sure I am stretching the student to improve… we need to enjoy lessons, laugh sometimes but also spend some time "out of the comfort zone"! Different students have different needs. You may want lessons to be very theoretical, or your personality might suit them to be more practical.

What is for sure is that, to play popular music (Rock/ Blues/ Jazz), developing your ear is a must, and developing a sense of rhythm is essential!!
