Information About Jorge - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

Jorge Catalan was born on April the 23rd in 1981, inside a family of professional and semi-professional musicians. He always combined his studies in technology with musical studies taught by professional teachers like Jose Ramon Chorva or Fabian Barraza among others.
He played in the professional big band “Centauro La Grupestra”and in the band “La Pirata”.
The following year, he opted to travel to Barcelona in order to continue with his musical studies at “L’aula” (Berklee).
At that time, Jorge had already played in some bands like, Valkyria, Centauro La Grupestra, Jamaica Show and Pirata whilst teaching guitar lessons since 2002.
Currently Jorge works as a private music tutor and is member of three bands.
The first one is a jazz band, with some students of the music college “The Institute” and playing jazz covers from Miles Davis to Ella Fitzgerald and also Bossa novas.
The second one is a rock band called “Metamax”, playing English and American rock covers all around London. They currently play at least once a month and three months ago they recorded a covers CD with songs of their repertoire.
Finally, his own band without a name yet, formed by students at “The Institute” as well. They are three people, a guitarist, a drummer and a bassist playing music and lyrics written by him.

Tutoring Experience:

Since 1994 teaching in Barcelona (Spain) at the "Cronom Blues" academy and in private tuition and in London (UK) in private tuition as well.

Tutoring Approach:

My method consists in lessons divided in 4 or 5 parts. They are Theory, techniques, music reading (if wanted), composition and repertoire. With this division my students get to grow up very confident in every aspect.
