Personal Description:

I am currently studying a Masters of Music degree at King's College London. I have recently completed studying flute with Kate Hill (RAM), and have previously studied with Elizabeth May (RWCMD) Philippa Davies (GSMD) as well as Anne Davies (RAM). As a performer, I have played Principal Flute with Symphonic wind bands as well as playing in smaller ensembles. As a Saxophonist, I have studied with Charlotte Gibbs (BMus Hons) and have played with many symphonic wind bands as well as playing Baritone and Alto saxophone with the King's Big Band, Jazz Outlaws big band and Baritone saxophone with the Constellation big band. I am currently also holding the position of Tenor Saxophonist with the Aleotorics Saxophone Quartet.

I also undertake work as a pit band player in musicals, most recently Anything Goes but have also done shows such as Annie, life's a drag and many others. Usually, playing a different combination of woodwind instruments in each particular show. I have also taken playing opportunities on Clarinet playing with the GCS Jazz Collective as well as playing clarinet in a classical setting with orchestras. Similarly, I recently took work as an oboist in a performance of Handel's Royal Fireworks as well as the Vivaldi Double Cello Concerto. Similarly, I have also undertaken work as on recorder and most recently played descant recorder for the opera Dido and Aeneas.

Outside of music, I have many hobbies. I am a scout leader and organize meetings in a Cub group. As well as this, I also have many hobbies such as reading, art, film, and theatre as well as learning new skills.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a wide variety of teaching experience, over the last few years I have held many positions teaching Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Recorder, Piano, and Music Theory both in one on one and in group teaching settings. I also have a wealth of experience in providing class tuition through working as a teacher with outreach schemes providing music theory and instrumental tuition in deprived areas of London.

Similarly, I have managed a private tutoring studio over the last five years working with adults and children with various learning needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a variety of methods when teaching both one-on-one instrumental lessons and music theory sessions. My approach adapts to suit the individual needs of each student and is tailored to fit the way in which type of learner they are. I also seek to make each lesson enjoyable, with an emphasis on fun. Similarly, I place a large emphasis on problem-solving and actively promote the student seeking the solution through considering the issue. The basic technique is also a vital part of my teaching and one of the main areas I promote throughout my lessons
