Personal Description:

Jon teaches modern cello, historical cello and viola da gamba. He has performed and recorded as principal / continuo cellist with The Academy of Ancient Music, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Britten Sinfonia and others.

Tutoring Experience:

An Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, he currently teaches at the Royal College of Music, has given classes in many of the UK's conservatoires and has been a teacher to both young musicians and adults.

Jon is enthusiastic, positive and thoughtful as a teacher. He varies his teaching approach to accommodate the needs of each student. He encourages students to find a technique that suits them, and always brings the focus back to musical intention and careful listening.
