Personal Description:
Hello, I am a violin teacher based in Lancashire, and I work at Blackburn School of Music, and Lancashire Music Service. I perform regularly with a pianist, performing works by Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart. I enjoy a challenge and play some of the hardest pieces by Ysaye, Paganini and Wieniawski.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 15 years teaching experience, and I have taught students of all ages. I tailor my lessons to each individual student, and I aim to provide them with pieces and studies that will help them make the quickest progress. I quickly identify weaknesses and then focus on those until they are a strength. Many of my students achieve distinctions in their exams, including 3 at grade 8. One girl recently got her grade 8 distinction at only 13 years of age, after studying with me for 6 and a half years. My students have had many achievements, including winning scholarships to summer courses, and one of my younger students won a place at Chethams School of Music and is pursuing a promising career there.
Tutoring Approach:
Generally I use ABRSM grade books as a gradual way to build up confidence and ability. I listen to my students needs also, and if they want to play bittersweet symphony or some traditional Indian music then this is what we will work on. I have some excellent practice techniques to share and they are proven to help acheive a high standard of playing.
