Personal Description:
I am a professional guitar teacher with nearly 30 years playing experience. I studied at the Guitar Institute in London and went on to play and record with some world class musicians including Dave Markee (Eric Clapton, Roger Daltery), Henry Spinetti (Tina Turner, George Harrison) and Dan Cutrona (Bee Gees, Joe Cocker).
I have been amazed by the power and versatility of the guitar since I first took it up aged 13 and it still amazes me to this day. Having the opportunity to pass some of the knowledge on to other people definitely feels like the best job in the world!
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching professionally now for 12 years and in that time have built up a solid base of private students who I teach from purpose built, air conditioned studio at my home. In addition to this I have also been the principal guitar tutor at City of London Freemen's School in Ashstead Park for the last 10 years.
Prior to this I taught in a number of other schools including The Link Secondary School where it was a great privilege to work with children with varying degrees of learning difficulties. I'm fairly sure they taught me more than I ever taught them!
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to music tuition is try and make lessons as relaxed as possible and put you at ease with the guitar. I firmly believe in a 'real world' approach and will only start to include the wonderful world of theory as it becomes helpful and applicable to what you are learning and hekps you to achieve your goals.
Whilst I always aim to encourage and motivate my students, true motivation comes from within and I try to help you develop a better understanding of what is required to reach the level you want to be playing at.
