Personal Description:
My name is Joe, and I am a bass player with 15+ years of live, studio and professional experience. I have had the opportunity in my time as a professional to play some of the largest music festivals in the country, including Download Festival, Isle Of Wight festival and Camden Rocks Festival. My time as a performer has honed my skills as a musician, but also allowed me to experience first had the importance of being actively involved in the industry.
I am currently studying my Masters in Music to further my career as a music educator by continuing my education to prepare me to teach as a university professor.
I'm a passionate and dedicated bass player, musician and performer, and I love to pass on the skills I have learned in my musical endeavours to those who wish to excel at their craft, as well as broadening their musical knowledge.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching privately now for around 5 years. Some of my students have been given honours in their college/university practical examinations as a result of the discipline taught to them as part of my teaching methodology.
From finishing my qualifications I have taken part in charity work with young adults helping them form bands, as well as being hired to manage and direct ensembles at a professional level.
My students range from the ages 11 upwards and I have also taught professionals wishing to expand their knowledge of the instrument by helping them focus on the fundamentals of technique and practical application. I have also taught adults who wish to pick up the bass as a hobby, and helped them on their way to discovering music in a whole new way.
Tutoring Approach:
Each of my students are issued a notebook and a folder. This is to create a personal practice log so we can stay focused on our lesson material which is imperative for personal development.
Our lessons are bespoke based on progression, ability on your instrument and individual style and music taste.
I take my craft seriously, but my lessons are laid back but very productive, and focus directly on the needs of the player while also covering the fundemetals of technique, fretboard memorization and aural development.
I have played professionally in front of some of the largest capacity venues, as well as playinh in front of more that 10,000 people at festivals such as Download, Leeds/Reading, Isle Of Wight Festival and Camden Rocks festival.
