Personal Description:
My name is Joanna, and I began playing the cello and piano at the age of seven. I made my solo debut at the age of twelve, performing Goltermann’s Concerto in G major. Since then, I have appeared in concerts and festivals around the world as a concerto soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician.
Since 2015, I have been a member of the Bukolika Piano Trio, with whom I have enjoyed several significant international successes. I studied with Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by a scholarship from the Clumber Studio. I completed my PhD in January 2020, and in 2022 I released my debut album, Kaija Saariaho – Works for Cello. The album received five diapasons from Diapason and a nomination for the International Classical Music Award in 2022.
I am currently an Assistant Cello Teacher at the Academy of Music in Kraków, a cello teacher at Wadsworth Music Academy, and an active private tutor. Alongside my performing and teaching career, I have a strong interest in music therapy and pedagogy and am currently completing my qualifications to become a counsellor. My particular area of research and interest is the impact of emotional distress on performers and performance. For more information please visit: **Web Address Removed**

Tutoring Approach:
My aim when teaching beginners, across all the music subjects I offer, is to spark a genuine joy for music-making. From the very first lesson, I focus on building a solid technical foundation that will allow you—or your child—to progress confidently and correctly.
For more advanced students, my teaching emphasizes refining technique and exploring a diverse and challenging repertoire, helping each student develop their unique musical voice.
I also incorporate basic music theory and music history into my lessons, as I firmly believe that a well-rounded musical education enriches both understanding and performance.
