Information About Jim - Houghton le Spring teacher

Personal Description:

I have played and competed in the Worlds best brass bands over the last 30 years. I am , I believe , possibly the longest serving principle cornet player in the Uk having played in that position for 34 years within various bands. I am currently the Principle cornet player for the Co Op Funeralcare Band based in Glasgow. The band is frequently in the top 10 of the World Rankings.
I am a top rated soloist and perform throughout Europe on a regular basis. I have played on countless cd,s and have recently released a solo cd and solo album . The "Best of Jim " album sold out on the first week of release. In 2010 I won , with my band the All England Masters Contest and was awarded the All England Maaters Soloist award , Best instrumentalist award and The 4 Bars Rest best soloist award. I regularly play in the Worlds greatest venues including The Royal Albert Hall.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught privately for years and really enjoy passing on playing and performing technique.
I have the necessary experience to mould any player into a top class soloist. Most importantly I can prepare the student mentally to perform at any venue or event. I excel at installing confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

I play at the very highest level and enjoy passing my knowledge and experience on to my students. I not only prepare the student technically but also mentally. I can instill confidence and make the pupil indestructible under pressure. My students can rest assured they are being taught by a teacher who has been there and done it.
