Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated musician. I have been playing for many years in styles including Classical, Light, Swing, and Jazz. I play 1st flute in a very popular Concert Band, Tenor Sax in a Big Band and Alto in a Concert Band. I have also done a lot of orchestral work over the years. I have lived in Scotland, London, and Devon and been involved in the music scene wherever I go.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught for many years, not just music but also art, animal care and horse riding! I taught primary school children on my 3 principle instruments, and also guitar and keyboard. At Bridgwater College I had many successful pupils both students and adult learners. I now teach privately and have a circle of happy and keen pupils. I run a saxophone ensemble for beginners and more advanced students.

I have 100% successful pass rate for ABRSM exams, in fact my latest batch were all merit or distinction!

Tutoring Approach:

My music lessons are fun! The emphasis is on good technique and a beautiful tone, and attention to rhythm and timing.
Playing in different styles is addressed, listening to yourself and playing together to improve dynamics and pitch. I can guarantee that you will enjoy, and end each lesson feeling that you have achieved something with a smile on your face.
