Personal Description:
essica is a London-based trombonist, currently a scholar of the Royal Academy of Music under the tutelage of Dudley Bright, Matt Gee, and Peter Moore. Previously, Jessica studied with Phil Goodwin and Robert Burtenshaw at Chethams School of Music, and Simon Hogg at Warwick School. While specialising in classical trombone, Jessica is a versatile musician who loves to create music across a wide variety of genres. She is sponsored by Sir Roger Vickers in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has since played with incredible artists including Bob Mintzer and Hermeto Pascoal, and has recorded with NYJO too.
She has performed at major venues across the UK, including the Barbican, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and Bridgewater Hall, and has played and interviewed on BBC Radio 3 In Tune. Jessica is alumni of the University of London Symphony Orchestra, Junior Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, CBSO Youth Orchestra, National Youth Wind Orchestra, National Schools Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Concert Band, and Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2018 she made her solo recital debut at The Collegiate Church of St Mary, with her playing described as the most beautiful heavenly tone by Stephen Bell.
Jessica has a fundamental belief that it is essential for everyone to have the opportunity to connect with music, with an ultimate aim of impacting and enriching others lives by introducing them to the language, history, and power of music.
As well as being very enthusiastic about musical education and accessibility of the arts, Jessica is passionate about exploring the mind-body-soul-instrument connection and practises Alexander Technique to heighten awareness of self and wellbeing. In addition, she is an award-winning artist and treats the creative process of her work as a mindfulness practise, working intuitively, and has been invited to exhibit internationally as well as nationally
