Personal Description:

I love performing and I am enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge. I think studying the arts is a valuable way for anyone to develop a sense of self and self-confidence.

I began performing at the age of 8. I've since performed in many contexts and styles that culminated in a Rotary scholarship to study Jazz at the South African College of Music where I continued my pursuit of music and theatre and teaching before moving to London. I have recently completed a Master's Degree in Classical Acting from LAMDA.

I do my best to facilitate a positive and supportive environment for beginner/intermediate students or advanced students who are looking for a different approach or to shake things up a bit. I look forward to working with you! Please note that I am a freelancer so my schedule can vary.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked primarily with children and young adults (20s/30s), but have also worked with adults up into their 70s and I am delighted to work with anyone of any age who is interested in singing! It is never too late to learn even if you are a complete beginner!

I have worked in primary school settings, workshop settings for young adults setting off on performance training, and mature adults/casual learners. I have a great deal of experience catering to whatever you wish your focus to be.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is three-fold: 1) Lessons are practice; we are there to learn and make mistakes and not be perfect so enjoy it! 2) I use classical performance technique as a foundation. Basically this means that the foundation/beginning of our work will be with the body, breathing, relaxation, etc. 3) I incorpora**Contact Detail Removed**arning pieces into the lesson to apply the practical skills of exercises and to develop as storytellers so please come with pieces in mind. Everything is a workshop; you are not singing FOR me, we are working together to find out how to unlock your individual sound.

Please note, I want to focus on the student, so I do not play the piano in lessons. I use pre-recorded piano scales so that I can get up and work with you to model technique and also do hands-on work to help you find physical release/relaxation so that you are in your body in a neutral position. The body is, after all, the instrument and singing requires the whole body. When it comes time to sing a song, we will use a backing track so I can observe your technique and give you feedback and continue to work with you on your feet. You are not performing FOR me, we are working together and I am facilitating exploration for you to discover your sound.

My goal is to encourage my students to develop their own unique style, taste, and artistic identity.

As per safety regulations relating to COVID-19, I currently only teach online.

Please note that I am a freelancer so my schedule can change from week to week so flexibility is appreciated, but I do my best to give students a consistent schedule that works for them.
