Information About Jessica - Castleford teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Jessica:
Growing up in a musical family, singing & performing was always a part of my life. After attending local Stage Schools as a child, I went on to study Musical Theatre at Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire) followed by Arden School of Theatre, Manchester graduating with a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre.
I have spent a decade working in the Entertainment industry, from UK Theatre tours to Disneyland Paris, Luxury Hotels to 6* Cruise Liners. Performing a wide variety of styles, including Classical, Musical Theatre, Pop and Rock, I've had to constantly adapt my voice to suit the requirements and demands of the job.
Whilst performing, I maintained my vocal health by regular visits to Singing Coaches and keeping up to date with the latest research and advice.
Always wanting to improve my skillset, I completed the 20-hour BAST Course for Singing Teachers in February 2020 and was certified as a Vocal Health First Aider in January 2021.
As a Vocal Health First Aider, I can assist with any Vocal worries you may have, offering guidance and advice on ways to move forward and how to achieve optimal Vocal use.
I am a qualified First Aider and have an enhanced DBS check.
I currently reside in Castleford, where I am a Freelance Female Vocalist as well as a Singing Teacher. I would like to use my experience and knowledge to help others in their singing and performance. I am a fun, friendly person and lessons with me are always aimed at being enjoyable as well as educational. I look forward to meeting you.
I have been teaching full-time since March 2020, having completed the BAST 20-hour teacher training course in February 2020. My students range from ages 6 to adult and cover genres such as Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock & Jazz.
Prior to that I had been Vocal Captain & Coach whilst on tour and working on Cruise ships. I have also previously lead small choirs and helped people with audition prep and performance technique.
I offer face to face lessons at The Glasshoughton Centre in Castleford and online lessons, which take place on Zoom.
As well as running my own private studio I also teach Musical Theatre at Excel Theatre Arts in Castleford. These are group classes from ages 3-16.
I continue to study the Voice and Singing and was recently certified as Vocal Health First Aider.
It is important to me to work with the individual and hear what it is they would like to work on and learn about, as well as passing on my skills and helping them to progress as a confident singer and performer.
I pride myself on helping students learn correct breathing techniques, phrasing, harmonies and performance.
I like to create a fun, friendly atmosphere as singing should not be a chore!
