Information About Jess - Letchworth Garden City teacher

Personal Description:

Hello, I'm Jess :)

While no longer currently in the field of music (I'm a full-time researcher in London), I have been a musician all my life and completed ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) for flute when I was 17 years old. I left for university in the States under a music scholarship and played throughout my four years of university in the university's concert band, symphony orchestra, and pit orchestras (for musicals and operas). I still play regularly when I have a chance at home and cannot wait to share my passion for flute with you too!

Tutoring Experience:

I have substantial amounts of private tutoring experience. I was a figure skating coach for four years, doing both one-to-one sessions and group classes. I also was a private English tutor for six years to secondary language students.

I currently am still teaching at university level in courses relevant to my research.

Tutoring Approach:

Flute to me has always been really fun and enjoyable, and I hope to share that with students. I will always try to make the sessions as interactive as possible and while I will aim that we get through repertoire and exercises that students need to together, I will also bring about different exercises for the students to allow them to build on other music skills, such as attentive listening to other players in duets etc. This will allow students to not only be a great solo performer, but also play in group settings as well!
