Personal Description:
I am a jazz guitarist and composer from Toronto, Canada who now lives in Leeds, UK. I received my Bachelor of Music from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, spent a number of years on the Toronto jazz scene and moved to England to study at Leeds College of Music for my Masters in Music Performance and Composition. As part of my Masters, I studied with Stuart McCallum, Mike Walker and Jamie Taylor. I have also studied with Peter Bernstein, Michael Kanan, Seamus Blake, Chris Cheek, Jorge Rossy, Howard Alden, Gilad Hekselman, Lorne Lofsky, John Abercrombie, Barry Harris and Ted Quinlan.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 20 years of performing experience in many different settings – from solo guitar all the way up to big bands, privately and in music schools.
I am musically literate and have been studying music for a long time. I have my Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees. I have also taken lessons from some serious greats – including Barry Harris, John Abercrombie, Gilad Hekselman and Mike Walker.
Tutoring Approach:
I practice what I preach. I regularly use the same material I’m teaching others – either in the practice room or when performing on stage.
I tailor my teaching to your specific wants and needs. My only agenda is to make sure you get what you want out of our lessons and enjoy the process. I get a lot out of watching students develop their skills and seeing the joy they have playing.
