Information About Jayn - Malvern teacher

Personal Description:

Whilst at school I took A level music and studied up to grade 8 flute. I went on to study at Trinity Laban where I gained a BA Hons and Masters.
I played in a flute ensemble called Flute Cocktail in Hertfordshire for a number of years playing a wide range of music from classical to jazz.
I also played in a band for a number of years writing and performing a mixture of folk and blues music. Therefore I have experience of playing live and recording the flute. I now work as a solo freelance artist and teacher.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught flute for several years, covering the ABRSM and Trinity syllabus up to grade 8 and theory up to grade 5. I have taught privately and in schools teaching people from all walks of life. I believe that learning to play a musical instrument is one of the most wonderful things you can do in life. So whatever your age, if you are just beginning or if you are auditioning for University I can help you to achieve your potential.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different and has different learning needs so my methods are tailored to suit the individual. I encourage practice, setting realistic targets, keeping a log and self evaluating progress. I like to play some duets with my students and to get to know about their musical tastes for the flute and beyond. I aim to encourage a love of music and a passion for playing the flute.
