Personal Description:

Jamie is a bass player and musician known for his work and collaborations with countless artists across the world mainly in the jazz, rock, international folk and improvisors scenes.

As well as being an experienced and sought after musician he is also an inspiring and dedicated teacher. He leads his lessons with patience, kindness and the goal to guide all his students to flourishing musicality.

Tutoring Experience:

After 13 years of teaching bass 1 to 1 Jamie is experienced in teaching people of all ages, backgrounds and learning needs.

Aside from his private teaching he has also taught in schools, lectured and ran workshops in universities, and ran workshops in youth groups such as NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) and Musikarama (volunteer service providing music education for refugees).

Tutoring Approach:

One similarity every student has is that they learn best when having fun! Often learning something new is challenging but together we will set some goals and plans that make that challenge something fun and exciting that will give you a real opportunity to learn, focus, develop a deeply satisfying skill and enjoy the process!

There is no rush, we must learn at the student’s pace. If that happens to be very fast then you will not need lessons often as I don’t hold back from giving you the tools to teach yourself and practice effectively. Equally, if you need guidance through every step of the way, that’s also what I’m here for.

Whether you wish to concentrate on grades, playing by ear or utilising advanced techniques we can agree together on the paths that suit you to achieve your goals and lead your musicality to flourish.
