Information About James - Maghera teacher

Personal Description:

A graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire studying Jazz, James has performed both on drums and piano and is currently developing his portfolio of compositions and recorded music. Friendly and upbeat about music and enjoys creating music from any genre. Jazz being his first area of study, James has a great understanding of music theory, harmony and composition. Past experience in bands include, Metal, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Rock, Contemporary and many others.

Tutoring Experience:

James has taught for a long time to many different levels and ages. Having had two years teaching experience at Richill School of Music teaching one to one, a year as a visiting tutor at Hazelwood Primary School, percussion section director with Drumcree Accordion Orchestra and teaching various workshops and youth groups with a charity called 'On the Edge Music Fusion'. James is the current drum teacher at Cantata music school in Banbridge Co. Armagh.

Tutoring Approach:

With a friendly approach to teaching, James enjoys hearing new people play and inspiring them to keep going with music in anyway he can. Learning is as much about creating new things as it is about studying the current and historic composers of our time. Teaching/learning is about patience, and patience is something that can be improved and trained, understanding where each pupil is coming from and catering to there needs is something that is important when teaching and creating ways to keep the pupils interest.
