Personal Description:
I obtained my Grade 8's in guitar and music theory in the 1980s, after completing my degree in Chemistry, and started teaching full-time as soon as I had graduated. I have current DBS checks for a children's charity and as a School Governor. I specialise in Classical Spanish guitar, but I can also teach flamenco, folk, blues and rock 'n' pop to a certain level.
Tutoring Experience:
James has 40 years experience in teaching the guitar. In the past I have taught in schools and colleges, day-time and night school. Inc. The London College of Furniture (Now London Metropolitan University) and The Brighton & Hove High School for Girls. Now because of time constraints, I just teach privately. I have 100% examination success rate (initial to Diploma), including music theory papers, all instruments (to grade V).
Tutoring Approach:
I offer tuition in a relaxed environment, and at a pace I deem suitable to the individual student. I teach all ages 6-80, and levels. Exams in required (Trinity College for practical playing, and ABRSM for theory)
