Information About James - Maghera teacher

Personal Description:

My name is James , I'm a drummer with a lot of passion for the music, I have played in bands, wrote my own music, I also play piano and have taught drums on and off since I was 18, 27 now and working on the music scene in Northern Ireland I've decided that it now time to get back to teaching, having enjoyed it a lot in the past. I am police checked as I'm currently working as the drum tutor at Cantata music school in Banbridge.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently the drum Tudor at Cantata Music School in Banbridge, I've taught in Hazelwood primary school, Richill School of music, On the Edge Music in Birmingham, and privately on and off through out.

Tutoring Approach:

I adapt my lessons for each pupil, depending on the level, what the pupil wants and not forgetting what the parent wants. I am committed to making drumming fun through jamming on the drums and playing piano or bass with the pupil so they get a real musical experience in lessons and not just a play beats and play them fast, which I think is a really important part of learning.

I'm also interested in teaching how to read music from an early age, building them up to traditional methods through picture based teaching, making reading a more fun and creatively involved process. This would hopefully lead them on to doing grades or playing music in a group.
