Personal Description:

I have been studying music for over 25 years, beginning my journey on the piano, which I still play and teach to this day. In high school I took up both guitar and bass guitar, later moving on to the double bass. I studied at degree level - achieving a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Popular Music performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford, UK in 2008 - and furthered my studies with a postgraduate course at the University of Surrey, UK, completing my MMus in 2011. Through my studies, I have a high level of theoretical musical knowledge which comes from both jazz and classical music backgrounds.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught on a variety of instruments for over 10 years to students of all ages and abilities, and have experience of teaching children with learning difficulties.
I am happy to teach lessons in person, or online via Zoom from my home. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like any further information about online lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that first and foremost music should be fun! Through my one-on-one lessons I have learned to adapt each lesson to suit the pupil, working closely with each individual to enable him/her to reach achievable goals. Graded exams can help give structure to this process but are not always essential, and they are not suitable for everybody. The aim is always to improve and (most importantly) to enjoy the process of creating music.

NB prices shown are for a 1 hour lesson. Half hour lessons are also available, priced at £22.
