Personal Description:

I have been studying music since the age of about 7, when I first began playing the piano, which I still play and teach to this day.  I give piano lessons to a range of pupils from children as young as 7 as well as their parents!  I have also had experience teaching students with both mental and physical disabilities and learning difficulties, and find great pleasure in enabling these people to enjoy themselves through music.

I took up both guitar and bass guitar at school and have been studying each for over 10 years. Bass guitar became my main instrument, which I studied at degree level, achieving a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Popular Music performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford, UK in 2008. I furthered my studies with a recently completed MMus from the University of Surrey, UK with a dissertation on jazz double bass, which I studied both practically and theoretically over the course of my Master's degree.

I have a high level of theoretical musical knowledge which comes from both jazz and classical music backgrounds.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught on a variety of instruments for over 5 years to students of all ages and abilities, including gaining some experience of teaching children with learning difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

Through one-on-one lessons I have learned to adapt each lesson to suit the pupil, working closely with each individual to enable him/her to reach achievable goals. The aim is always to improve and (most importantly) to enjoy the process of creating music.
