This is how 3 referees rated Jacob:
I am a multi-instrumental musician and professional music tutor with a background in art. In 2013 I co-founded and continue to manage Folking Around, an acoustic showcase night promoting contemporary folk and acoustic music. I am passionate about the arts, as well as music and nature. Earning my degree in art, I also continue to work as a freelance designer. Born and raised in Somerset, I played various keyboards in rock and blues bands, including performing on the Glade Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
I have been a private music tutor in the Kingston-upon-Thames area for over five years, specialising on piano, but also teaching a number of other instruments. More recently, I have also moved into teaching both group and individual lessons within various local schools. My many years of musical experience both performing and also running music events, have helped to develop my teaching styles, from folk and rock to classical, tailoring each lesson to individual pupils.
I am particularly passionate about helping first time musicians find their feet within their chosen musical ventures, as well as encouraging pupils to challenge their potential, through regular performances and in practice. I have sat numerous pupils through classical grades and helped others overcome nerves to play at their first public shows. I consider myself to be a forward thinking, friendly, relaxed and positive teacher.
