Jacob offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
I am full-time musician doing solo music under the alias 'Jungle Boy' and band work under 'After London'. With my recent single reaching over 150k streams on Spotify and both my band and solo work paired with music labels, I can offer a fresh and individual approach to teaching.
I been teaching piano, drums and composition for the last 3 years whilst briefly teaching Music GCSE students at St Mark's Academy. Currently, I only teach privately as I prefer taking on a wider range of ages and having long-term goals that we can set together.
By being a professional musician as well as a tutor, I can offer students a versatile range of skills which they normally could not find. I can teach students the in’s and out’s of live performance, composition and improvisation as well as more classic piano and drum tuition, including grades and music theory. I greatly enjoy developing a unique teaching plan for every student to cater for their individual needs.
It is hugely important to me that my students learn and know about top of the range equipment, which is why I teach piano on a grand piano and have two drum kits to teach on. I have an electric drum kit (Roland) and an acoustic drumkit (Mapex black panther, Black widow series) in my studio, which allows me to teach verbally, sensually and aurally.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions!
I have been teaching both piano and drums for 3 years, both privately and at a secondary school. I have taught students aged 5 - 78 and have an in-depth knowledge of how to cater for different students.
I am currently being taught by Gabor Dornyei, one of the leading drummers in the world, and would love to pass on any advice I can give to my students!
As well as this, I have completed and passed Music A level and grade 5 theory (Merit). I play both Piano and Drums above Grade 8 standard and I am DBS checked.
I try to help my students learn in whatever way they find most enjoyable and productive. By covering aural, sensual and visual learning through having 2 pianos and 2 drums to work with I can quickly determine how a student best learns and how I can help them progress as quickly as possible!
I am happy to work through grades with students, however, I do not force this upon them. I am happy to teach them with or without grades to their preference as well on focusing in on what they want to learn. Through teaching in this way, I make sure each of my students progresses in what they are most interested in, whilst having as much fun as possible!
