Personal Description:
I'm a guitarist and working musician with over 20 years experience playing classical, electric, and contemporary styles. Based in Camden, London, I split my time between teaching, performing, recording, and creating original music.
I started learning guitar at a very young age and went on to study Contemporary and Popular Music at Newcastle University. Over the years, I've played everything from metal and prog to classical and flamenco – and I love helping others discover the joys of music and the guitar, whether you're picking it up for the first time or looking to develop into an advanced or professional musician.
Outside of lessons, I've worked with music charities, contributed to various creative projects in recording and live environments, and gig around London. I also run my own teaching platform and website.
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching guitar privately for just under a decade, working with students of all ages and abilities – from complete beginners to players who are preparing for advanced exams.
My lessons are fully personalised, shaped around the interests and goals of my students. I've worked with school-age learners, adult beginners, and intermediate players wanting to improve skills like improvisation, songwriting, theory, or lead techniques.
I hold Grade 8 Classical Guitar, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree, and supporting qualifications in music theory.
I also offer online lessons and have experience tailoring content for virtual learning – making lessons flexible, creative, and effective regardless of format.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that a good music teacher listens to and learns from their students. My approach is to find what my students are interested in and what their goals are, so that I can create an engaging and hands-on experience that motivates progress.
Lessons are always tailored to you: structured when needed, and open when that suits you better. I blend traditional music theory with practical skills needed to become performance-ready, often breaking down your favourite guitarists' approaches to tone and technique.
For students interested in exams or grade progression, I'm happy to build structured lesson plans with clear milestones. I also love helping students write music – whether that's to jam/improvise, create original compositions, or develop one's own voice as an artist.
Most of all, I want you to enjoy the process while knowing you're developing the right skills and techniques for your goals.
