Personal Description:

My name is Iwan and I am an experienced Violin teacher and player who previously taught with Glamorgan Music School. I have a strong track record of helping students passing exams with high marks as well as plenty of experience teaching beginners and those who are just looking to learn an instrument for fun! My playing experience spans 27 years, my teaching experience the past 8 years, and I hold a DipABRSM professional qualification for the Violin.

Several years ago I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Music & Sound Technology. I am also a member of City of Cardiff Symphony Orchestra.

During the past few years I have also passed all 8 grades on the violin, participated in several orchestras (including on a National Level) as well as having experience in Viola, Music Theory, Piano and Percussion.

Teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy and I’ve now spent the last few years helping students work towards exams.

I also hold a full DBS check and I am a member of ESTA strings & the Musicians Union.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been a teacher for several years now, teaching students of varying ages and standards. I am currently helping students working towards exams, as well as teaching a few who aren’t interested in exams and wish to learn for fun! I also have experience in teaching Music Theory.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is friendly and relaxed. I think that learning an instrument should be enjoyable but also structured depending on the student. Everyone learns differently and I make sure that my lessons are tailored to suit each individual student. I can help students work towards ABRSM exams or even just towards their own goals.

He is keen on keeping me engaged which means each lesson is never a carbon copy of the one before it.

The teaching pace as of late has been also improving and getting slightly faster - which I'm pleased with.

I can highly recommend Iwan as a violin tutor for beginner and/or intermediate level.
