Personal Description:
I am a professional musician with 26 years of experience with a Bachelor of Arts Music (Jazz) from Middlesex University and a Masters in Music from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am a multi genre bass player/double bass player that has played multitude of settings from packed out arenas to intimate performances. I am very passionate about what I do, I am very light hearted and would teach any one who wants to get into or wanting to know specifics of music and or the bass. Personally, I think music is very essential to society as a whole, everyone and anyone should have the opportunity to get involved in the process of music making. Studies have shown the benefits of such activities. During such activities, the visual, auditory, motor, logic and creative centres of the brain become fully engaged. This over time improves brain function by increased connectivity between both hemispheres of the brain and as a result, would enhance an individual's ability to deal with general life situations. Hence why my rate is low, because I how expensive it is to have a quality music tuition.
Tutoring Experience:
I am mostly self taught, which is an added bonus because I have learnt how to teach myself by looking for areas of improvement. But despite this, I have had a few teachers along the way that do point out areas I'd miss. Going to music school further enriched my self-taught approach with the wealth of knowledge acquired from the teachers at TUT Pretoria South Africa, Middlesex University and at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. This also opened up doors I was totally unaware of, hence, the essence of a teacher, basically to show the doors that need opening.
Over the years, I have tutored children to adult who were absolute beginners looking to get into music or learn the bass guitar or the double bass and other students who were advanced and had played a myriad of gigs but were looking for help to push their playing to the next level.
Tutoring Approach:
I’d like to know what the student wants to achieve. My approach is empathetic and would involve working from the students current understanding of music. With the beginner, it could be going through some basics and applying that by playing bass lines or bass lines to songs they love. With the advanced student, it might be resolving problem areas for them maybe with some music theory and or core techniques.

What he was taught in 1 lesson he's never been taught in 1.5 years with his current teacher! Ike focused on the basics like how to position his hands and fingers, exactly what my Son had been missing.
Ike is both professional and passionate about the Double Bass. Once our lessons are up with the current teacher we are going to book in weekly lessons with Ike.
