Personal Description:
Starting the piano in 1992, I have progressed to many instruments including guitar, violin, and singing, however piano has always been my forte (pun intended) and my passion.
I trained myself for (and achieved) a distinction at grade 8 piano in January 2021 after taking an exam break for 20 years (the last being grade 7 in 2001) and then went on to achieve an ARSM piano diploma after 45 weeks of self-study. In May of 2023 I gained another performance diploma with the MTB exam board after a year of self-study.
Despite the exam break, I had been playing at grade 8 standard and beyond for many years whilst teaching a variety of students, interspersing music theory lessons and review with practical lessons to provide a broad experience and a graceful technique.
I also teach music theory up to and including grade 5.
Hourly lessons are £20, but I also teach half-hourly for £10
As well as cash, I accept bank transfer, Paypal, and Bitcoin payments.
Tutoring Experience:
Having had experience as a Primary School teacher I have a wide understanding of a students requirements.
As for piano, the youngest I have taught is 6 and the eldest 68, so there is no limit, however I prefer to teach from ages 8 and above.
My students currently have a 100% pass rate for ABRSM and MTB exams (piano, singing, theory) and to date there have been dozens of exam entries made.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach a classical foundation, which can then be developed into Folk, Ragtime, Modern. I work via the MTB guidelines and syllabus (however follow ABRSM with regard to scales and techniques) and provide exam entries (including theory) for students wishing to take them.
