Personal Description:

I'm a Malaysian currently studying music as a final year Masters at Birmingham Conservatoire where I also got my first degree in music. Back home, I participate in orchestras such as the Selangor Philharmonic and Selangor Kuala Lumpur Orchestra and Choir (SKOC). and was a soloist playing alongside the SKOC and recently joined the CBSO Youth Orchestra as well. In Malaysia, I got 2nd prize in the solo category of the Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation Competition and also attended masterclasses by Andrew Filmer and Leland Chen. Piano tutors include Loo Bang Hean, Margaret Newman and Robert Birchall; Violin tutors include Andrew Chye Miang San and Simon Smith.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had 6 years of teaching experience mainly violin as my expertise and also did some beginner piano teaching as well. I am also DBS checked.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient teacher and focus on getting the fundamentals right. However I also make the learning process interesting by introducing games to improve aural skills, rhythm and sight-reading. I incorporate specific teaching techniques such as Dalcroze, Kodaly and Colourstrings especially for children. I am also a musically inclined person.
