Personal Description:

I am a classical trained musician and teacher with 11 years of teaching experience. This year in 2018, I graduated with a MA Music Therapy at Anglia Ruskin University and I am now a HCPC (Health and Care professions council) qualified music therapist. I learnt piano since I was aged 6, and percussion, violin and guitar later in my life. Ever since I was young, I was exposed to art and music-related environment. During my secondary school years, I attended a music-talented class where piano, percussion, music theory, aural training, and orchestral playing were emphasised in school. Besides solo piano playing, I also participated in various ensembles, orchestras, and operas as a percussion and piano player. Throughout the past 2 years in Cambridge, I have performed at West concert hall and Mumford theatre.

Tutoring Experience:

I started teaching piano since I graduated from University of Leeds (2007). Alongside piano teachings in this period of 11 years, I also worked as a specialist, supporting pupils with concentration issues, ADHD, Asperger’s to achieve their potential abilities. I was also trained in various early music education trainings including Orff music movement (2012) and Muisik garten(2008), encouraging young children to learn music and piano with creativity and allowing positive growth in early development.

Tutoring Approach:

My music lessons are commented as creative and fun. I believe interests and passions towards music are the primary elements to keep piano learning motivated. In addition, I see myself as a genuine and caring person who treat pupils with great patience and build nice connection with both the pupils and family. Encouraging pupils to practice is also a key element which makes piano learning successful. Most importantly, I believe learning the piano is not only about learning the music. It’s also about understanding ourselves and the world, building up relationship, strengthening self-esteem and expressing emotions which can fulfil our basic human nature. Learning an instrument will be the best decision in your lifetime.
