Personal Description:

I am a trained classical musician and teacher with 16 years of teaching experience. I am also a HCPC (Health and Care professions council) qualified music therapist. I have experience playing the piano since the age of 6 as well as the percussion, violin and guitar throughout my studies in music. Ever since I was young, I was exposed to art and music-related environment. During my secondary school years, I attended a music-talented class where piano, percussion, music theory, aural training, and orchestral playing were emphasized in school. Besides solo piano playing, I also participated in various ensembles, orchestras, and operas as a percussion and piano player. Throughout the past 4 years in Cambridge, I have performed at West concert hall and Mumford theatre.

Tutoring Experience:

I started teaching piano since I graduated from the University of Leeds (2007). Alongside piano teachings throughout the past 13 years, I also worked as a programme specialist, supporting pupils with concentration issues, ADHD, Asperger’s to achieve their potential abilities. I have also done various early music education trainings such as Orff music movement and Musik Garten. My passion towards music encourages young children to learn music and the piano with creativity and allows for positive growth in early development.

Tutoring Approach:

My music lessons are regarded as creative and fun. I believe interests and passions towards music are the primary elements to keep piano learning motivated. In addition, I see myself as a genuine and caring person who treats pupils with great patience and aims to build nice connection with both the pupils and family. Encouraging pupils to practice is also a key element which makes piano learning successful. Most importantly, I believe that learning the piano is not only about learning the music but about understanding ourselves and the world, building up relationships, strengthen self-esteem and expressing emotions which can fulfil our basic human nature. I view that learning an instrument will be the best decision in your lifetime.
